Updated my Gemini, finger and ~town homepage (although the ~town update is just the same as the finger one, so -- that's a pro-tip to save yourself some bytes, there)

Me: Retrocomputing is a useless impulse to rage against the complexity of modern computing by throwing the good away with the bad.

Also me:

Running Motif WM on my workbench Raspberry Pi while I write an image for a _different_ Pi.

Browsing Gemini in Agena from a 7 year-old phone with my bluetooth keyboard. Like a low-effort cyberdeck, considering my set backs with my own design.

That image is but reduced to an 8 colour (3 bit) palette with one 64x64 blue noise reference file to use as a threshold map. I add 3px and 7px of offset for green and blue channels, respectively.

Ok I'm in Boston it's time to square up with the Boston dynamics dog

TTW friends: We are on 3.3.0, with the new audio/video player (which pops out so audio doesn't stop when you scroll), gemini scheme links, and more!

The little Mac Classic that my son modelled in TinkerCAD (and printed and painted) for my Christmas present.

I'm pretty excited for the new Masto version and will get TTW updated in the next few days. Along with native support for new URL schemes (like Gemini!), it has follower synchronization, which might help fix the fact that some instances think they follow people on TTW but TTW doesn't think that they still exist.

(Also some improvements around inline video, which might also improve the inline audio player? Looks like a banger of a release).

Is posting on Mastodon when you've updated your Gemini the new posting on Twitter when you've updated your Moveable Type blog?

Anyway, wrote up the rationale for my next project to build a luggable cyberdeck -- I'll probably need to reference a bunch of things on the big web and include images, so this will probably go to my actual blog or ~insom once I have my act together

Windows giving me individual progress bars and speed indicators for multiple copy operations to the same device is totally unnecessary and I love it. Look at the little lines go! Who will win?!?

Also posted to a new Gemini capsule -- gemini://soviet.circumlunar.sp -- and earlier in the day to `feels` and I also archived most of my ~town space, moving it off the server and starting with a fresh and clear home directory (except for the brutal Python scripts that update `modified.html` -- banged out in a single lunch break but working unmodified for 5 years 😤)

Gave the tildeverse* recently updated list its first new coat of paint since October 2015 over at

I was looking at getting a blue neon sign to go with my pink one, so I could have that cool blue-to-pink fade across my desk and my described my office aesthetic as "cyberpunk whorehouse", which is fair.

I feel like most of my posts on Mastodon are complaints or apologies about admin stuff, so to switch it up: my back is sore today and I feel like I'm super-old.

unattended-upgrades are a great way to wake up to an unread downtime alert from six hours ago

number 6: doesn't loop and it's nearly December edition. Third upload, because even basic mastering is beyond me and clipping. Played live on Circuit over a programmed Volca Beat ... beat.

And we're done again. Let's all agree to leave things alone for a little bit :blobpeek:
