I dunno if you lot know this about me but as well as fixing coin-ops, I run a little indie multiplayer text adventure game at improbableisland.com. Have done for just over ten years now. No ads, no creepy addictive game mechanics, kept alive by voluntary donations.
I'd really appreciate a boost, 'cause Project Wonderful shut down earlier this year, and we could do with some word of mouth.
honestly though, mastodon instances are run and moderated by real people who care about the network, to the point of often paying their own money out-of-pocket to run their instances.
the *one* time i've had to report a post, my instance admin messaged me directly to let me know the action taken about it.
don't be shy to report. it works here. the rules aren't there just to keep things advertiser-friendly.
welcome to mastodon. don't be a dick. hug your local mods/admins.
Saw a down-and-out in Seattle last night. His sign said not "I need food" or "I need a job" but "If you’re reading this, you’ve been in coma for almost 20 years now. We’re trying a new technique. We don’t know where this message will end up in your dream, but we hope it works. Please wake up, we miss you.". What could this mean?
I did the first two days and bonuses on #adventofcode -- now I'm going to upgrade Mastodon on tiny.tilde.website and maybe sort out an Nginx proxy too (this should help tootstream and bitlbee, I think).
If you can see this message -- but you don't see a later message where I say "All done!" then you are in for a rocky ride. Hold on to something.
When I browse Mastodon on my commute or when killing time on my phone, I think I must star every fifth or sixth post to read more about the topic later. Both because of technical limitations (phone) and personal ones (tired).
Then I periodically open up a kazillion tabs based on my faves and learn a tonne, then unstar things.
This is such a great network.
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/123540/tokaido -- I played Tokaido with some family recently, it's so chill and calm. Just painting up some real nice panoramas of Japanese mountains and stuff.
Eating sushi and not impaling anyone.
@vilmibm @tildetown Not sure if this is on your radar but it seems like something that is in your (and our collective) wheelhouse: https://www.amazon.com/Peoples-History-Computing-United-States/dp/0674970977/
Mucking around with my synthesizer set up this morning. I added an Erica Synths Pico Voice which is the only part I didn't actually build (at least from a kit).
Welcome back to port. Thanks for enriching the local timeline, too!

ttw is the unofficial Mastodon instance of tilde.town. We're only smol, but we're friendly. Please don't be a dick.
